“CPI” Glyphosate
Kills tough weeds quickly and provides long-lasting control.
“CPI” Glyphosate Benefits:
Used post-emergence in oil palm plantations to control narrow-leaf weeds such as goosegrass, crowfoot grass, smallflower galinsoga, beggar’s ticks, and pinkgrass. It is also effective against broad-leaf weeds or grass like desho grass, sensitive plant, Ganges Primrose, Praxelis clematidea, coat buttons, Garden spurga etc.
“CPI” Glyphosate can be used for:
• Mature oil palm trees: Herbicides can be sprayed, especially around the base of the trunk, to remove weeds and allow light to reach the base. This reduces the accumulation of moisture, diseases, and pests that can harm the oil palm trees.
• Weed control in young palm plantations: Systemic herbicides like glyphosate can be used. Occasionally, or in some cycles, glyphosate can be mixed with broadleaf weed herbicides for better results.
Note:
Advantages of using chemical herbicides
They reduce the frequency of weed control operations, providing long-lasting control for 3-4 months. This helps lower costs as weed control is needed only 3-4 times a year. In contrast, mechanical cutting requires repetition every two months. This method is ideal for large plantations or those with limited time.
Precautions
Spray when the wind is calm and use proper techniques. When approaching the palm tree, direct the nozzle away from the trunk to minimize the risk of herbicide droplets affecting the leaves or crown, which could cause damage. This requires skill and technique from the applicator.
