The benefits of assessing the nutrient status of oil palm trees include

  1. To provide an accurate assessment of the current situation in your oil palm plantation and determine the optimal fertilizer rates for increasing oil palm production
  2. Using correct sampling techniques and accurate assessments according to academic standards ensures precise and reliable results
  3. Opportunities to receive guidance, proper care strategies for palm plantations, and specialized knowledge from oil palm experts are invaluable for efficient plantation management in the future.

Assessment methods

  1. Survey the characteristics of the plantation area and designate the positions of trees from which leaf samples will be collected. Group palm trees of similar ages for nutrient analysis, aiming to collect samples from 100-200 acres per sample, with a minimum of 3 samples per plantation. Also, collect soil samples from the same area to measure soil pH and electrical conductivity (EC).
  2. Collect oil palm leaf samples for analysis of nutrient concentrations
  3. (For oil palm trees aged 1-5 years, sample from leaflet 9, and for oil palm trees older than 6 years, sample from leaflet 17). Leaf sampling should be conducted at the same time each year, from late November to early January
  4. Analyze the nutrient concentrations in the leaves for all 10 elements, including Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K), Calcium (Ca), Magnesium (Mg), Boron (B), Zinc (Zn), Copper (Cu), Iron (Fe), and Manganese (Mn)
  5. Measure the pH and EC values to assess the soil salinity
  6. Process the data and recommend appropriate fertilizer rates to increase oil palm production

*Note:
– The plantation owner should prepare personnel to learn and assist in collecting leaf and soil samples.

– In the future, if the plantation owner can collect leaf and soil samples independently, there will be no charge for hiring experts, transportation, and accommodation.
– The cost for analyzing plant nutrient concentrations is a minimum of 3 samples per plantation.
– Additional sample collection will incur an additional analysis fee of 1,200 baht per sample.
– The assessment report will be provided within 45 days.
– Service fees are subject to change based on suitability.
